Davao has evolved a lot. From being known as “Murder City” to being one of the most livable cities in the Philippines, truly it had marvelous changes. Today, it is considered as one of the country’s top tourist destinations. I’ve been there few years ago and I must say the place has lots of things to offer to anyone who wants to have some adventure.  Davao is considered as a land of rich culture and exotic beauty.

If you go to Davao, you will see that its society is richly mixed. Visayans, Ilongos, Ilocanos, Muslims and other tribes abound the region. Mostly, people would peak the Cebuano dialect.

Davao is widely known for its towering Mt. Apo, the durian fruit, and the unique “Waling-Waling”. Mt. Apo has always been known as the country’s highest peak at 10,311 feet. It actually takes around 4 days to climb it. The ever controversial fruit, Durian, is famous for its unpleasant odor despite its heavenly taste.  Try to eat it and see for yourself. The nearly-extinct waling-waling flower also used to abound the forests of Mt. Apo. However, most of their varieties are now being kept in nurseries for preservation.

Crocodile Park is another place to go to. Its 5.4 hectare mini-zoo houses numerous crocodiles, wild cats, python, monkeys, birds and turtles. Kids would surely enjoy the place. Davao also boats of its beautiful beaches such as the Pearl Farm and Talomo beach.

Just like Cebu, Davao has its own set of festivals worthy of attending.  It has the “Kadayawan sa Dabaw” which is celebrated every third week of August, coinciding with the harvest time for fruits, flowers and agricultural products. Street-dancing and floral float parade characterized the festival.  There’s more to Davao than what I can state here. I’m sure you will have your own set of beautiful memory once you set foot on Davao.
