For the past few weeks, temperature has gotten really high. Truly, summer has entered our country aside from the ever present global warming. We can’t help but whine over the summer heat at times. Even our homes feel like ovens especially at noon time. But on the lighter side, summer gives us the chance to enjoy the cool things in life. Literally. Aside from the ever famous halo-halo, Buko shakes have also started to invade town.

Go to malls and you’ll see food stalls selling buko shakes in one corner. Buko Loco, Buko Ilonggo and so many other stall names. Back then, I didn’t care much on these drink as I don’t really like Buko to start with. Until one day, I had the chance to drink a bottle. And I was truly amazed with it! It is truly what I could call a “Refreshing” drink.

Buko or Coconut Shake is simply the typical shake with buko flavoring or extract. I don’t remember much of its type being sold before. It must be one reason why it clicked so much nowadays.

Buko shake is sold in mineral water-like containers of various sized to suit your thirst and punched with a tiny hole for the straw. It comes really handy for anyone. Its cost doesn’t seem that high too. 1 liter size cost 65 Php, 500 ml size cost 45 Php and a little smaller than that would cost you around 35 Php. Better buy the 1 liter to get your money’s worth.

After taking a sip of this buko shake, I can assure you that you’ll feel all cool and somewhat brain-froze—perfect after a long warm walk. Instead of spending your time lurking in your room with the airconditioner on, you might as well try this one. Try it and who knows, you might get addicted like I do.
