Review: Cray-Cray for Crazy Crab

I remember one December when we had our relatives from the UK over for Christmas dinner. One of the dishes we served was my mom’s jumbo prawn in ginger and tomato sauce. My aunt exclaimed, “Look at the size of these things! We’d have to sell our house to afford this!” not in Cebu…

Cebu is blessed with abundant marine resources. But if you can’t get crab in your area, don’t have time to cook/prepare them, or don’t have the patience/dexterity to crack them open, then head on down to Crazy Crab at the Gaisano Country Mall in Banilad, Cebu City. Enjoy the freshest crab and other Filipino favorites, all for under P200 each!

My all-time favorite movie is “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.” And my favorite scene in that movie is the part when Ben (played by Matthew McConaughey) takes Kate Hudson’s character, Andie out for dinner at a seafood place. Guess what they’re having – crab! It’s always been my fantasy to go out on a date like this. So with my own version of Mateo, I decided to make my fantasy a reality.

At Crazy Crab you can ask them to crack your crab for you ahead. But if you’re like me, you’ll have fun getting your hands dirty (and relieving some stress) by cracking it yourself. They will give you all the right tools…except for the bib. So be careful!

I got the steamed crab and asked the waitress to prepare some minced garlic for me in a dipping bowl. I just poured in some vinegar, and voila! I was in crab heaven! Ze boyfriend ordered the hot and spicy crab and asked the waitress to have it cracked ahead. It was a fun middle-of-the-week date.

I recommend the hot and spicy crab and a LOT of water! Whoo! Aside from the crab, are combo meals with unlimited rice.

here’s free wifi and staff are very accommodating.
