Review: Llew’s Mud Pies

Sweet cravings are inevitable for most of us. There are always days when you are looking for your fill of sweetness. If you are craving for sugar but you are in a budget, I recommend Llew’s Mud Pies at R. Aboitiz Street, at the back of St. Theresa’s College (STC).

Llew’s Mud Pies is a small store. The store is inspired by the owner’s son who started to make mud pies at the age four. He is also the namesake of the store. Llew’s Mud Pies is right beside a Cofifi, a known coffee shop in the building. Llew’s has colorful seats and tables which adds to the happy vibe inside. They also have fun and interesting posters to keep your eyes busy. A lot of students from STC and from nearby med schools visit Llew’s after their classes.

Although their name suggests mud pies, Llew’s is known for their s’mores. Their s’mores are among their best sellers. If you frequently visit Llew’s, you would know that most, if not all, of their customers order their s’mores. I, too, like their s’mores a lot. It’s really yummy and also affordable. You can get s’mores for only P25. You can choose their hot s’mores or their frozen s’mores. Their frozen ones have different flavors that you can choose from. They also have mud pies that cost P30, and puddings for P75. They have a wide variety of desserts available like fried ice cream, cheese pie, and others. They also have meals like lechon kawali, spaghetti in chunky tomato sauce, and sandwiches among many others. You can also grab coffee and lemonade to match your meal and food.

To get to Llew’s Mud Pies, ride any jeepney that passes by Mango Avenue. Ask the driver to stop you at National Bookstore. If you are from Mabolo, you can ride a 06H jeepney. The 12L jeepney from Labangon also passes by Mango Avenue. If you are from the Lahug area, the 17C and 04C can get you to Mango. You have to do a little walking to get to R. Aboitiz Street, though.

I really love how yummy and affordable the foods are in Llew’s. It’s really fit for every student’s budget. No wonder why students are among their top customers. Their desserts are all yummy, especially the s’mores. I even keep going back to Llew’s just to have my dose of sweetness.

The only thing I don’t like about Llew’s is that they have a small space. There are times when they get really full and you don’t have any place to stay anymore. Also be prepared to do a little walking to get to Llew’s since there aren’t any jeepneys that pass directly by the front entrance.

I’d give Llew’s 5 stars for their yummy treats which are all affordable. Their fast service also deserves 5 stars. However, I’d give them 4 stars for small space.
