I'm currently working in the Human Resource Department in one of the companies in MEPZII. I would like to share some interview tips to the job seekers out there especially to those fresh graduates who are really desperate for employment. I'm not saying that this is applicable to all industries but most of us, HR people, find these things very important. You may consider these tips on your next job interview.
DO's
1. Dress appropriately for the industry and for the position you are applying.
2. Do come at least 10 minutes earlier before your interview schedule.
3. Maintain eye contact and sit still during the interview - avoid fidgeting and slouching
4. Be honest with your answers
5. Exhibit positive attitude.
6. Ask clarifications if you don't clearly understand the question.
7. At the end of the interview, offer a firm handshake, maintain eye contact and exit gracefully.
DONT's
1. Don't come to your interview unprepared. Make some research about the company and the nature of the business.
2. Don't be late.
3. Don't make negative comments with your past employer.
4. Don't go extreme with your posture.
5. Don't go extreme with your achievements - educational attainment, awards, etc.
6. Don't act that you like the company because of its location and salary.
7. Don't chew gum.
8. Don't use your mobile phone. Turn it off or into silent.
9. Don't falsify application materials.
10. Don't act as if you are desperate for employment.
Additional tips
1. Don't make excuses and asked the HR personnel to move your schedule on your preferred time. Wait until they will ask when are you available.
2. If you can't come for your interview, inform the interviewer through phone call.
3. If you want to follow-up for your application, call the company - don't follow up through text message.
4. Provide contact information - address and contact numbers.
