Review: Tambuli Beach Club

Tambuli Beach Club is owned by the same group that owns Visayas’ popular beach resorts: Cebu Beach Club, Bohol Beach Club and Blue Sky Sea Resort. The Tambuli Beach Club in Cebu has two areas: the East Wing and the West Wing.

Tambuli Beach Club is located at Buyong Beach, Mactan Island  6016, Philippines, in a private corner of Mactan Island.

GETTING THERE

You can travel via jeepney:

  •     Go to SM City Cebu.

  •     From there, walk across Kaohsiung St and along M. Logarta Ave.

  •     At the corner of M. Logarta and F. Cabahug Street, wait for a jeep with "MEPSA Lapu Lapu City Cebu City Vice Versa" signage.

  •     You will have to alight at the Marina Mall in Lapu Lapu. This is at the corner of Quezon National Highway and Airport Road.

  •     There is another terminal at the Marina Mall. From that terminal ride a jeepney that has a signage “Punta Engaño”.

  •     Alight when you see any of these signage on the road: “Maribago Grill”, “Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort”, “English Jungle ESL Resort and School”.

  •     Walk along Buyong Road. Just go straight.

  •     You will then see a “Tambuli Beach Club” sign.

You can also rent a car or use your own private vehicle for convenience. If you are not familiar with the place, your best option would be to take a taxi as the drivers will surely know where it is.

If you are going there from the Mactan Cebu International Airport, the resort is just 10-15 minutes away.

THE TAMBULI EAST WING

Formerly known as the Tambuli Beach Club, the Tambuli East Wing has a wide shoreline, lush greeneries and really tall coconut trees. The sands are not as wide as that of more posh hotels like Crimson or Imperial Palace, but nevertheless, the sands are still clean enough. There is an abundance of marine life you will see there, even near the shore: starfish, crabs, seaweeds and tiny fishes.

Rooms at Tambuli East Wing are average, at best. Don’t expect high-class heating, a Jacuzzi or a tub, as the standard rooms don’t have that. The television is still CRT although they have cable channels. There is no refrigerator inside the Standard rooms and there is no hot water jug either.  If you want hot water or ice, you have to call the hotel services and ask for one. Hot water is free but they charge you P50 per 1 jug full of ice. They have an electric current plug at 110v/220v.

The Superior rooms seem to be better, as they also include a refrigerator or a mini bar.

There is a lounge just outside the standard rooms if you want to relax.  The good thing is, the standard rooms are just a stone’s throw away from the beach so you can really enjoy the breeze.

Yes, they also have a swimming pool if you want to wade in non-salty water. It is not an Olympic-sized pool though. It is quite small.

THE TAMBULI WEST WING

The Tambuli West Wing used to be called the Tambuli Beach Villas. The Tambuli West’s swimming pool is definitely larger than that of the East. And the pool is more grandiose. Lush greens, coconut trees and Bermuda grasses characterize Tambuli West. Less beach and more garden, Tambuli West is definitely a great retreat.

The Superior rooms have a great panoramic view of the swimming pool. This means, you will not get a sea breeze as great as that of Tambuli East BUT, you get a bath tub which is awesome. It has air conditioning, television a mini bar and electric current at 110v/220v. The Superior rooms also have a terrace for you to relax in.

By far, the room is more well-decorated, more spacious and well-maintained than that of Tambuli East.

Tambuli West only has a Superior room (36.4 sq.m).

               Single: $95 ++

               Twin: $100 ++
