Review: Gold Mango Grill and Restaurant

If you’ve been reading my previous articles you’ve probably guessed by now that I LOVE FOOD. I love it so much that I would go miles just for a really good dish! I live in the city but that didn’t stop me from driving all the way to Mandaue, cross the bridge to Mactan, and drive on until Maribago.

I was talking to my friend at work about how excited I was to celebrate my 2nd anniversary with my boyfriend, and she mentioned this great little place she had been to with her boyfriend. She showed me pictures from her phone, and I said, “Whoa, that place looks expensive, Tar!” It was very chic & sophisticated. It looked pretty pricey. But she assured me that it was super affordable and really delicious. So I took her word for it and asked my boyfriend to try it that very afternoon. By the time we got there it was dinner time. It’s pretty far if you’re not from Mactan. Directions are found below.

There’s parking space in front and a lovely walkway. Although there is no dress code, I couldn’t help but feel underdressed in my T-shirt & jeans. My boyfriend’s initial reaction was just like any guy’s, “Babe, I only have a thousand on me ra ba.” But when he saw the menu, he was pacified. It’s not bad. It’s just like eating in Golden Cowrie but much swankier. It’s a pretty big place – beautifully decorated. There are “VIP” rooms where you can have intimate dates or exclusive dinners, without any added cost. Service is pretty good for a place that just opened. Each table is equipped with a buzzer so that you don’t have to be bothered with waving your hands up or sticking your head out like a giraffe to get the waiter’s attention.

Despite the travel time, I say Gold Mango Restaurant is worth a try.
